A Refresh With Purpose: The Story Behind Cup of Coa’s New Packaging

In October 2025, with the launch of our two new dark chocolate flavors, Cup of Coa found itself at an exciting moment of change. It was the perfect opportunity to refresh the line while honoring the elements our customers had always cherished.

For years, our cocoa lived in metal tins that were as loved for their beauty and tactile presence as for the chocolate inside. People repurposed them in kitchens, studios, and desks, creating quiet rituals that became a guiding inspiration for our redesign. We wanted to preserve that sense of permanence while inviting new ways to engage with cocoa.

The new packaging retains the familiar cylindrical form, encouraging touch and handling, while introducing subtle refinements that elevate the experience. Embossed textures, metallic accents, and delicate botanical details distinguish each flavor and reward a closer look, reflecting the layered richness of the cocoa itself.

Versatility was also key. Our cocoa can be enjoyed hot, iced, or even frozen, making it a year-round companion in cafés and at home. We also introduced bags as a refill option alongside the tins, completing a full packaging suite that feels adaptable and thoughtful for both daily use and gifting.

Sustainability naturally played a role in these decisions. The new tubes are made from FSC-certified paper and printed with soy-based inks, reducing environmental impact while still providing a packaging experience that feels substantial and lasting. Even small choices, like forgoing a plastic scoop, reflect our commitment to thoughtful design without compromising ritual or usability.

Ultimately, the goal was to create a packaging experience that feels intentional, enduring, and unmistakably Cup of Coa—a beautiful object that is cherished in the moment and returned to again and again.
